The Lions Club of Winnipeg – the first Lions Club in Manitoba and the third in all of Canada – received its Charter from the International President of Lions Clubs on Saturday, November 26th, 1921. The Lions Club of Winnipeg Housing Centres’ Board of Directors is comprised of Lions Club of Winnipeg members.

Today, Lions Housing Centres continues to provide a comfortable, home-like atmosphere and for the first time, a continuum of care for over 700 Residents - a testament to the determination, faith and energy of the Lions Club of Winnipeg.

Lions Manor was the result of the vision, foresight and determination of the Lions Club of Winnipeg Housing Centre’s first Resident, George Harvey, who recognized the need for seniors’ housing in downtown Winnipeg 38 years ago. Lions Manor officially opened June 3, 1965. The original 191 suites provided independent, affordable housing for seniors with an emphasis on a community lifestyle.
